Multiple Drone Incursions Over UK Military Bases Spark Debate On UAPs
November 27, 2024 1:00 AM ‐ UFOs
Mysterious drone activity has been reported over three US military bases in the UK, sparking fresh debates about the nature of these incursions and their implications.
The sightings, which began on November 20 and have lasted at least six nights, involved drones of varying sizes and configurations flying over RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, bases that play critical roles in hosting US Air Force operations.
The sightings have been described as coordinated, with multiple drones, sometimes dozens, spotted over the bases during each incursion. RAF Lakenheath is home to F-35A and F-15E fighter jets, RAF Mildenhall hosts the 100th Air Refueling Wing, and RAF Feltwell serves logistical and housing functions. Notably, many UFO researchers believe these bases likely house nuclear weapons, a factor often linked to UAP sightings around the world.
Although the term "drone" is accurate given the context, the unexplained nature of these sightings also places them under the broader umbrella of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs). UAPs are already a big talking point following the recent, high-profile US congressional hearing, where the need for more transparency around sightings like these was discussed.
The scale of these incursions raises questions. Why deploy so many drones at once? Could the intent be to gather simultaneous multi-angle imagery or overwhelm security systems? And if the drones are operated by foreign adversaries, why do they appear to have lights rather than remaining stealth? As some experts have suggested, the lights and number of drones may indicate an intent to make a statement or send a signal rather than conduct covert surveillance.
Professor David H. Dunn, an expert in drone warfare and counterterrorism from the University of Birmingham, suggested the activity fits a pattern of warfare seen in recent years. Speaking to LBC, he said, "If I was to put money on it, I would suggest that this is an activity by a state, and the most likely state is the Russian Federation."
The US Air Force, which operates the bases, confirmed the sightings but stated that none of the drones appeared hostile or posed immediate threats to personnel or infrastructure. However, the USAF declined to comment on specific defensive measures, emphasising that they retain the right to protect their installations.
The British Ministry of Defence also acknowledged the incidents, highlighting the use of robust counter-drone security measures. A spokesperson stated, "We take threats seriously and maintain robust measures at defence sites. This includes counter drone security capabilities. We won't comment further on security procedures." Both US and British authorities are collaborating to monitor and address the situation.
These incidents are not isolated. Similar drone incursions have been reported over other sensitive sites in the US in recent months, including Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, and the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. The repeated targeting of high-security military installations is exactly the reason why UAP transparency is currently being taken so seriously by parts of the US government.
While the current consensus points to drones, the unexplained nature of their behaviour and coordination leaves room for speculation. For now, the incidents remain under investigation, leaving us, once again, with more questions than answers.
