The Haunted Hunts: Project Invocation - 'Llanfyllin Workhouse'

Just three more challenges remain for Danny Moss and the Haunted Hunts team as part of 'Project Invocation', and the first of these is at a vast former workhouse in North Wales that dates back to 1839 and has a terrifying reputation of hauntings.

Llanfyllin Workhouse serves as the location for the eighth episode of The Haunted Hunts' fourth season. The team, which consists of Rebecca Salisbury-Moss, Emma Dawe, Charlie Rutter and Roxanne Rutter, have no idea what's waiting for them at the location. All the team are given is a postcode on the day of the investigation.

Once at the location, which closed in 1982, the team find out what tactics and methods they'll be using during their investigation and which team members will go where. Having this control taken out of their hands will push the team outside of their comfort zone and to the limits of fear. The experiment is designed to test if fear itself can invoke paranormal activity.

Danny shared his first impressions of the work house, "it looks absolutely huge from the outside." Becki added, "strange place, really strange place as we pulled up, quite foreboding, it's very very big, you definitely get a sense of the history and you can kind of imagine as a work house what would have gone on here."

Becki was handed instructions for the team on how to conduct their investigation of Llanfyllin Workhouse. It was her job to read out these instructions to the rest of the team and these instructions dictated which team members will be going where during the night and what techniques they will use. With their mission assigned, the team headed out into the darkness to investigate the location.

The team were sent out with no ghost hunting equipment, the idea behind this was to remove the distraction of these devices so that the investigators would have to focus on the room around them and any activity within it.

Danny seemed to have drawn the short straw and was sent to the cellar, where straight away he said "it is horrific in here." It soon became very clear that Danny wasn't alone in the basement, which resulted in one of Danny's most terrifying moments of the series so far.

Meanwhile, Charlie was hearing strange sounds in the old hospital wing, but was his interpretation of the sounds driven by his own heightened sense of fear? Perhaps, but things only got worse for the normally calm investigator. Rox, Emma and Becki had quieter vigils spread across various parts of the old workhouse.

Emma, Rox, Becki and crew member Alice headed into the old bunk house where they were surrounded by various ghost hunting gadgets, including devices that respond to changes in atmospheric conditions. During their time sat on the old bunks there were several moments when the equipment triggered indicating a sudden shift in the atmosphere.

Danny and Charlie were joined by crew member Nick in zone two, where they conducted a session with a Spirit Box, a gadget that rapidly scans through radio frequencies, it's believed that spirits can manipulate the static and white noise in these frequency ranges to form words and sentences. They later joined the girls in the bunk room for one final vigil.

The team's challenge continues at two more terrifying locations where they'll be given another set of taxing challenges to test their nerve and push them to the limits of their fear. We'll be bringing you an episode guide for the penultimate instalment of 'Project Invocation' tomorrow.
