Blumhouse has released the first trailer for its upcoming thriller 'Drop', a tense new film that blends tech-fuelled terror with an old-fashioned whodunnit. The film is directed by Christopher Landon, the filmmaker behind 'Happy Death Day' and 'We Have a Ghost', and is co-produced with Platinum Dunes, the team behind 'A Quiet Place' and 'The Purge'.

You can watch the new trailer for 'Drop' below.
At the centre of 'Drop' is Violet, played by Emmy-nominated actress Meghann Fahy, best known for 'The White Lotus'. Violet is a widowed mum nervously stepping back into the world of dating. Her first date in years starts off better than expected - her companion Henry, played by Brandon Sklenar ('It Ends with Us'), is charming and good-looking.

But the evening takes a dark turn when Violet starts receiving anonymous and increasingly disturbing messages on her phone. What begins as irritating soon becomes frightening. She's told to keep quiet and follow instructions, or the hooded figure caught on her home security camera will kill her young son and the sister who's babysitting him.

With her loved ones' lives on the line, Violet is forced to obey the mysterious commands. The final instruction is the most chilling of all - she must kill her date.

'Drop' also stars Violett Beane ('Truth or Dare') as Violet's sister and introduces newcomer Jacob Robinson as her son. The supporting cast includes Reed Diamond ('Moneyball'), Gabrielle Ryan ('Power Book IV: Force'), Jeffery Self ('Mack & Rita'), Ed Weeks ('The Mindy Project') and Travis Nelson ('The Lake'), who appear as the restaurant's staff and other diners caught up in the night's chaos.

The film is written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, who also penned Blumhouse's 'Truth or Dare' and 'Fantasy Island'. It's produced by Jason Blum ('Five Nights at Freddy's', 'M3GAN'), alongside Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller for Platinum Dunes. Sam Lerner serves as executive producer.

'Drop' is set for release in cinemas on April 11, 2025.
