Most Haunted S03E01: RAF East Kirkby, Lincoln - Full Episode

Yvette Fielding and the team visit a supposedly haunted airfield housing the wreckage of two planes which crashed after being shot down during a bombing raid in East Kirkby, Lincolnshire, during the Second World War.

The construction of the airfield began 1942, 57 and 630 squadrons were based here and they were equipped with the mighty Lancaster Bombers. By 1943 the number servicemen and women who were stationed at East Kirkby quickly topped 2,000. East Kirkby's aircraft suffered losses in Berlin and Nuremberg.

Towards the end of the war in April 1945 and Lancaster Bomber caught fire whilst it was being loaded with bombs, resulting in a huge explosion, which set off further bombs. Four people were killed, six Lancaster were destroyed and a further 14 were damaged.

The RAF finally disposed of the site in 1970 and now it's a museum, which is said to be haunted by phantom pilots, ghostly footsteps and a control tower that seems to come alive with a paranormal activity.

The museum houses wreckage from a multitude of crashes, and one in particular is the remains of a Spitfire. The body of the pilot was found underneath the plane, over 50 years after the crash. Is it his ghost that is seen walking away from the wreckage?

After the show's medium Derek Acorah arrived, the team made their way in to the hangar where Derek, as always, picked up on some of the names of some of people who once served and were stationed at the airfield. Including the spirit of the airman who crashed in the Spitfire. Derek named this ghost as RCAF Flying Officer Norman Watt.

The show's historian, Richard Felix, said "when Derek picked up Norman Watt, the poor unfortunate Spitfire pilot, there's absolutely no chance what so ever that Derek would have known anything about that before he came here. I'm totally convinced that Derek actually got through to that lad. It was absolutely fascinating and it's convinced me beyond all doubt of Derek's ability and that there are ghosts."

During the walk around they heard several loud bangs echoing through the hangar. The show's producer, Karl Beattie, then came over to tell Yvette that they'd seen the dark figure of a man wearing a captain's hat pointing. Crew member, John Baldwin also said he saw it. The team then split up in to separate smaller groups, where they experienced orbs and Yvette was convinced that something was being thrown at her.

Meanwhile, John started feeling strange, to the point where he had to be removed from the investigation. Derek described this phenomenon as "thought transference". Derek said this was why John was feeling hot and that it might be the result of an airman who was burnt alive in a plane. It was Karl who experienced transference next, not only was he feeling hot, he felt like his arm was burning and the team all claimed that Karl's arm smelt like it had been burnt.

During the night different members of the crew spent some time alone in the control tower. While Karl, Jon Dibley and Stuart Torevell were holding a vigil there and reported seeing a strange flash of light, something which is often reported at the airfield. Yvette said "this is the most bizarre investigation so far."
