If you're a fan of spooky films that don't take themselves too seriously, then you might want to mark your calendar for 'Found Footage: The Making Of The Patterson Project'.

This new horror-comedy mockumentary is heading to cinemas in North America from June 20 and will be available to stream on demand shortly after - June 24 in North America and June 30 in the UK.

The film follows a crew of seasoned documentary filmmakers as they try to capture the chaos behind a young director's over-ambitious plan to create the greatest found footage horror movie ever made. Things quickly spiral into a chaotic blend of behind-the-scenes tension, terrifying moments, and a lot of awkward laughs.

Directed by Max Tzannes and co-written with David San Miguel, 'Found Footage' playfully pulls apart the genre's most familiar tropes while still delivering some genuine scares. It's packed with nods to films like The Blair Witch Project, but told with the dry, offbeat humour of something like This Is Spinal Tap.

The cast includes Brennan Keel Cook (The Pale Blue Eye), Chen Tang (Warrior), Erika Vetter (Somebody I Used to Know) and Dean Cameron (Summer School), and it's brought to life by the filmmaking collective Dirty Shot Clean. The project is also backed by members of the Radio Silence team - the creators behind modern horror hits like Ready or Not and Scream.

Tzannes says the film is a love letter to both the found footage genre and the often frightening reality of making an indie horror film. "We wanted to celebrate the clichés we all know and love, while having a bit of fun with just how intense and ridiculous it can be trying to make something scary on a shoestring budget."

You can check out the official trailer now to get a taste of the chaos in store. Whether you're in it for the horror, the humour, or just curious to see what happens when the camera keeps rolling long after it should have stopped, 'Found Footage: The Making Of The Patterson Project' promises something fresh and fun for horror fans.
