Avenbury Church's Haunted Graveyard

These are the haunted ruins of Avenbury Church and the abandoned graveyard that surrounds it. This place is supposed to be rife with paranormal activity and a dark and sinister past.

Many locals who live in Bromyard and the surrounding areas are aware of the ghost stories that this church is famous for. Home to the graves of The Baskerville family, who are alleged to have influenced the writing of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

There have been many reported of phantom church bells and an organist that can be heard playing, even though the church is today abandoned and decaying.

Also a story of a witch who was buried outside of the graveyard, before being exhumed and thrown into the river, is still said to reside and wander the graveyard.

Nicholas Vaughan is also said to haunt this area too after he was hanged here for burning down a house owned by the Bishop. Amongst many other stories!
