Sensitive Emotions
The term "sensitives" is used to refer to people who are thought to have an increased sensitivity to paranormal or spiritual energy, which allows them to perceive or experience things beyond the realm of normal human experience. Sensitives are sometimes also referred to as "psychic sensitives," "psychic empaths," or simply "empaths." The term is often used to describe people who are able to sense the presence of spirits, ghosts, or entities, or to describe people who are able to pick up on the emotions, thoughts, or experiences of others, even at a distance.

Some of the traits and abilities that are associated with sensitives include having a strong intuition and the ability to sense things that others cannot, being highly empathetic and able to pick up on the emotions and feelings of others and to understand their experiences in a deep and meaningful way, and being able to sense the presence of spirits, ghosts, or other entities.

Some claim to be able to communicate with these spirits and to act as a medium between the living and the dead. This of course blurs the lines with the definition of a psychic or medium.

However, there are some key differences between the two. A sensitive is generally thought to have a heightened sensitivity to paranormal or spiritual energy, which allows them to perceive or experience things beyond the realm of normal human experience. A medium, on the other hand, is said to have the specific ability to communicate with the spirits of the deceased. This may involve receiving messages, voices, or visions from the dead, or relaying information or messages from the deceased to the living.

In some cases, the terms "sensitive" and "medium" may be used interchangeably, or an individual may identify as both a sensitive and a medium. However, the distinction between the two can help to differentiate between individuals who have a general sensitivity to paranormal or spiritual energy and those who specifically claim to have the ability to communicate with the dead.

A sensitive is actually closed to "clairsentient," a term that specifically refers to someone who has the ability to perceive information through their feelings or physical sensations, often described as "clear feeling." This can include having strong gut instincts, experiencing emotions or physical sensations in response to stimuli that others do not pick up on, or being able to "sense" the presence of a person or object even when they are not physically present.

So, while a sensitive can also be clairsentient, the two terms are not synonymous, as a clairsentient specifically refers to the ability to perceive information through physical sensations or emotions, while the term "sensitive" is broader and can encompass a variety of psychic or paranormal abilities.

So although similar to aspects of mediumship, couldn't being sensitive just be mistaken for someone who is simply highly empathetic or intuitive? Both traits can involve having a strong intuition, the ability to sense the emotions and experiences of others, and a heightened sense of awareness. However, the key difference lies in the belief systems and experiences of the individual.

A person who considers themselves to be a sensitive may attribute their abilities to paranormal or spiritual forces, while someone who is simply empathetic or intuitive may see their abilities as a natural extension of their personal strengths and experiences. Additionally, a person who identifies as a sensitive may be more likely to seek out psychic or spiritual experiences and to engage in practices such as meditation, energy work, or communication with spirits, while someone who is simply empathetic or intuitive may not have these beliefs or experiences.

It's important to remember that intuition, empathy, and the ability to perceive and respond to emotional cues are natural and well-documented human abilities, and that many people may experience these abilities to varying degrees. However, the idea of a "sensitive" as a person with paranormal abilities is not supported by mainstream science and is often considered to be part of the realm of pseudoscience or paranormal beliefs.

While many people may report personal experiences or anecdotal evidence that they believe supports the existence of sensitives, these reports are often subjective and cannot be reliably verified.

The field of psychology and neuroscience provides evidence for the existence of empathy, intuition, and other well-documented human abilities that can contribute to the perception of heightened sensitivity to emotional or spiritual energy. However, the idea of a "sensitive" as a person with paranormal abilities is not supported by mainstream science and is often considered to be part of the realm of pseudoscience or paranormal beliefs.

Another interesting thing about sensitives to note is the gender of those who identify as having these abilities. While the gender distribution of individuals who claim to be sensitives is not well documented or studied, as someone with an interest in the paranormal, you probably know a few people who claims to be sensitives and might have noticed that the majority of these are female. There could be a variety of factors that contribute to this observation, including cultural, societal, and individual beliefs and biases.

In some cultures and communities, there may be a stereotype that associates women with intuition, empathy, and other emotional or spiritual abilities, leading more women to identify as sensitives. Additionally, there may be gender-based expectations or biases that encourage women to be more open about their experiences and beliefs, while discouraging men from doing so.

Like all paranormal claims, the abilities of sensitives should be treated with skepticism, even only if to strip away the myths and doubt in order to get to the root of these claims and obtain meaningful evidence of these claims.
