Fans of 'Wednesday' have been given their first proper glimpse of season two, as Netflix released the opening six minutes of the brand-new series during its live global event, Tudum 2025, held on 31 May.
The sneak peek is the very first scene from season two, episode one and marks the public debut of the highly anticipated new season. The clip opens with a characteristically gothic tone and features many familiar faces, including Jenna Ortega returning as Wednesday Addams.
You can watch the full six-minute preview below.
Season two of the hit supernatural series will be released in two parts on Netflix. The first half lands on 6 August 2025, followed by Part 2 a month later on 3 September.
One of the biggest surprises from the Tudum event was the announcement that Lady Gaga has joined the cast as a guest star. She took to the stage immediately after the teaser aired, emerging from a coffin inscribed with the words "Here Lies the Monster Queen". She then performed a live mashup featuring the songs 'Zombieboy', 'Bloody Mary', and 'Abracadabra' - all perfectly in keeping with the show's spooky aesthetic.
Season two returns to Nevermore Academy, the school for supernatural outcasts, where Wednesday is now re-enrolled - this time by choice. Her younger brother, Pugsley Addams, is also joining as a student, bringing with him newly discovered electrical powers. Meanwhile, Morticia and Gomez are expected to play a bigger role on campus, which adds fresh tension to Wednesday's story.
Alongside Ortega, the returning cast includes Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. The new season also introduces Steve Buscemi as Nevermore's headteacher, Principal Barry Dort, and Joanna Lumley as Morticia's mother, Hester Frump.
Behind the camera, Tim Burton is once again on board as executive producer and director. Series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have promised a deeper dive into side characters and more exploration of the show's wider world. Joanna Lumley said she found the world of 'Wednesday' "intoxicating", while Buscemi teased that his character carries a sense of "outcast pride".
The teaser itself gives a quick montage of what's to come. Wednesday is seen being patted down at airport security, Pugsley destroys a welcome sign for the town of Jericho, and Thing is shown delicately handling a teacup. There are also glimpses of Bianca in a darkened room, Enid smiling with a doll in hand, Hester at a wrought-iron gate, Principal Dort giving a speech, Tyler in a cell, and Uncle Fester in a bathtub surrounded by rubber ducks.
From the look of things, season two will retain the offbeat, macabre humour that made the first season so popular, while expanding the story to new locations and characters - and perhaps even darker mysteries.
