About This Video
This video was uploaded to the YouTube channel Dead Air in October 2020.
The Pied Bull is the longest serving public house in the ancient city of Chester. Located on Northgate, it has been in business since 1571, and even before then, this was once private housing.
There are several ghosts said to haunt this place - the most famous being John Davies, who died in the 17th century when he tried to go down to the cellar with a large knife to open a beer barrel, only to fall in the darkness and impaling himself.
Room 7 is said to be haunted by a stable boy who died in a fire in 1789 when his torch set fire to some hay in the stable block, igniting the building. He was carried into Room 7, where he died of his injuries.
A house keeper is also said to wander between the rooms of 7, 8 and 9, and has been seen by guests many times. She is believed to have even been caught on camera too, and has been responsible for poltergeist activity. It's no wonder that Tripadvisor mentions her many times.
We spent the night in The Pied Bull to investigate these claims...
If you'd like to spend the night in one of these rooms, you can book directly via the Pied Bull's website - https://www.piedbull.co.uk/ or if you specifically want to spend the night in Room 7 or 9, then contact them and specifically request the haunted rooms and the staff will book you in.
About Dead Air
Dead Air was formed in 2009 by University friends Rob Davies and Chris Felton, originally as a radio show in Newcastle based FM station, NE1fm. The show originally was based around encouraging callers to talk about their own experiences and opinions on the paranormal, as well as monthly live broadcasts from some of the North East's scariest places.
Chris works alongside Alan Robson, the host of Metro Radio's Nightowls and Sky TV's 'Scariest Places on Earth', and plans to make a full return to the show in 2021. Rob has been a radio presenter with NE1fm on the music scene, but is now 100% committed to creating paranormal content for the channel.
