Remember the grainy, fussy UFO videos of the 90s? Those videos where it was impossible to tell what you're actually looking at? Lucky videos like that are a thing of past, right? Wrong!
The Chilean government has released a nine minute video taken just two years ago of what they claim is an unidentified object. The video was taken along the coast between the port of San Antonio and Quinteros in November 2014 by a Navy helicopter.
The to naval officers on board described the object as a "flat, elongated structure" with "two thermal spotlights like discharges that did not coincide with the axle of motion."
Chile's leading scientists and aviation technicians have been investigating the footage and after two years are no closer to explaining the sighting. However within 10 minutes of the video being uploaded to YouTube everyone is suddenly an aviation expert and many people in the comments have put on their tin foil hats and blamed the sighting on aliens.
Personally I think it looks like a military helicopter, because of the infrared you cannot see the propellers. At the end of the video, the smoke makes it more obvious. Basically, we're looking at an out of context military video that someone has then co-opted as UFO footage.
I mean, I say "personally," they're actually my friend's thoughts that I copied and pasted from Facebook chat.
