The BBC has announced details of its new documentary series, 'Paranormal: The Girl, The Ghost and The Gravestone,' hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter Sian Eleri. The series will premiere on BBC One and BBC One Wales on August 16 at 10.40pm and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
In this four-part documentary series, Sian delves into the curious case of Penyffordd Farm in north Wales, which gained notoriety in the late 1990s as the most haunted house in Britain. The Gower family, who lived at the farmhouse, experienced over 300 alleged paranormal events that were captured through video footage, audio interviews, photos, and eye-witness accounts.
The wide array of phenomena ranged from the mysterious appearance and disappearance of words and pictures on the walls to moving objects, and even sightings of a hooded figure and the ghost of a girl rumoured to be buried in the garden.

In the first episode, she meets Dr. Daniels, a specialist psychologist who was called in to investigate but was never able to fully explain what happened at Penyffordd Farm. This perplexing case still haunts him.
The series continues with further breakthroughs and leads, including a meeting with the current owner of Penyffordd Farm and a genealogical investigation into the story of a teenage girl named Jane Jones, whose gravestone might still be on the property.
The series is a co-commission between BBC Three and BBC Wales and is produced by Twenty Twenty Productions Ltd. Hugo Pettitt serves as the Series Producer, and Rory Jackson is the Series Director. Executive producers are Ruth Kelly and Jo Hughes. It was commissioned by Clare Sillery, Head of Documentaries at the BBC, Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three and Young Audiences, and Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Wales.
The series begins on BBC Three on August 15 with a double bill at 9pm and 9.30pm, with all episodes available on BBC iPlayer. However, the main premiere will take place on BBC One and BBC One Wales on August 16 at 10.40pm.

Radio 1 presenter Sian Eleri begins her investigation into Penyffordd Farm, a place once considered the most haunted house in Britain. With more than 300 documented paranormal events, Sian explores the evidence with skepticism. She interviews a specialist psychologist, Dr. Daniels, who reveals that the case still perplexes him despite years of study.
Frustration turns to opportunity as Sian struggles to contact the original family but is invited to the farmhouse by its current owner, Michael. Discovering rumors of a gravestone linked to the hauntings, she digs into the historical evidence with a genealogist and finally connects with a member of the Gower family.
Sian's investigation deepens as she focuses on witness accounts of a mysterious hooded figure. Multiple reports of this figure raise questions and doubts as she attempts to understand if there might be a shared illusion or a genuine paranormal phenomenon.
In the final episode, Sian works to track down the remaining family members involved and bring closure to her investigation. The culmination of her work aims to answer the haunting question: Was Penyffordd Farm truly haunted, or was it all an elaborate hoax? The conclusion promises to resolve the mysteries and shed light on this perplexing case.
