As creators of paranormal games Darkling are no strangers to the world of supernatural horror and can spot a classic ghost trope a mile off.

Their list of eight supernatural movies and television shows have theme of a big old creepy house running through them, plus they all have unexpected twists or particularly memorable ghostly moments that should satisfy the itch that Bly Manor left you with.

The Others [2001]

The Others

This Nicole Kidman supernatural thriller might not be quite as good the second time around due to its unexpected twist. Nicole plays a woman who lives in a darkened old house on the Channel Islands at some point after World War II. Her two photosensitive children become convinced that her family home is haunted.

The Innocents [1961]

The Innocents [1961]

Jack Clayton's 'The Innocents' is based on the same source material as 'The Haunting Of Bly Manor', Henrys James' 'The Turn Of The Screw'. It has been described as one of the best ghost movies of all time. Like Bly Manor it tells the tale of a young governess caring for two orphan children who become convinced that the house and grounds are haunted. She gradually comes to believe that the children are possessed by the spirits of their former governess and her sadistic lover.

The Woman In Black [2012]

The Woman In Black (2012)

Based on the 1983 novel by Susan Hill, this adaptation is perhaps most famous for starring the post-Potter Daniel Radcliffe. The story follows a recently widowed young lawyer, played by Radcliffe, who is employed to retrieve documents from the desolate Eel Marsh House as a prelude to legally settling the estate of the house. Death seems to stalk the house, and there's a catalogue of jump-scares throughout the film.

Alternatively you might also want to check out the original 1998 television adaptation of the novel. Conveniently, it has just been released on DVD and Blu-ray and is available now via Amazon.
