The Haunted Hunts: Cemeteries Of The Dead - 'Walton Hall'

Danny Moss and 'The Haunted Hunts' team continue their exploration at Walton Hall, another haunted location with mysterious connections to on-site burials in their fifth season, entitled 'Cemeteries Of The Dead'.

The third episode of the season sees Danny head to Lancashire with the rest of his team, consisting of Rebecca Salisbury-Moss, Emma Dawe, Alice Grindley and Nick Anderson. Unfortunately, Charlie Rutter and Roxanne Rutter have been forced to sit out of a second investigation after testing positive for COVID.

This is one location the team have been eager to investigate, especially due to the rumours of long-forgotten caves and tunnels under the building with possible links to the local cemetery. Upon arriving at the house, Danny said it was "a place that I have wanted to investigate for many years."

Danny explained, "it is exactly what we are looking for in this series." He added, "many of the local people believe it's haunted, it's not the most famous of haunted locations, so these rumours need to stem from somewhere."

The most common reports are of the sound of children crying, laughing and running around various parts of the house, most commonly on the stairs. It's said that a little girl died in this area and her ghost has been seen here, she's also said to have pushed visitors on the stairs.

Another of the house's ghosts that of Lady Daresbury, the wife of Sir Gilbert Greenall. It's believed that she died in the bathroom that adjoins her bedroom, and since then she has been haunting her rooms. The legend states that if she doesn't like you, you'll be sure to have an unpleasant experience, she might even try to push you out of her room.

On the team's first day at the location, Danny and Alice conducted a baseline walk-though, including in one of the most active areas, the Daresbury Room. During their initial walk around, Danny uncovered some potentially unusual electromagnetic readings and even heard a strange unexplained noise that sounded like a door handle rattling.

The next night, the team got stuck into their full investigation. Danny, Emma and Becki began on the upper floor of the hall. Emma was equipped with headphones and an ultra-sensitive microphone to allow her to hear subtle sounds that the human ear might not pick up on.

Meanwhile Nick and Alice monitored the building via locked off cameras from the base room. At one point they heard a strange noise, which sounded like a human voice, an a clear, yet unexplained bang was also caught on one of the CCTV cameras.

Later the team split up. Emma and Becki held vigil in the Daresbury Room, while Danny went alone to the bar on the ground floor, but the vigils proved to be quiet.

The team changed tack and tried an experiment called the Estes Method. This involved Alice sitting at the top of the stairs and having her senses cut off using noise cancelling headphones. While sheltered from any external influences, she had to listen to the output of a Spirit Box through the headphones and say if she heard any responses, while the rest of the team called out from the bottom of the stairs.

The team later returned to using the ultra-sensitive microphone and picked up what they thought sounded like whispering sounds and even the sound of a child's voice.

The team's mission to uncover the mysteries of haunted burial sites continues at three more terrifying locations. We'll be bringing you an episode guide for the fourth instalment of 'Cemeteries Of The Dead' in the week.
