Yvette Fielding is best known for her years of ghost hunting on Most Haunted, but is now drawing from her experiences with the paranormal to write a ghost hunting book for kids. Yvette appeared on Lorraine Kelly's ITV morning show to talk about her inspiration for the book.

'Archie the Ghost Hunter and the Rising' is released on September 5th and is available to pre-order now. The television ghost hunter, who is an avid reader herself, was inspired to write Archie's first adventure after constant requests from fans of 'Most Haunted' for her to pen something for children.

She told Lorraine, "it was really weird, for many many years I've had emails from lots of fans of Most Haunted saying 'my child really loves the show, is there anything you are going to do for children?' And, I've written a couple of other non-fiction books, and I thought 'do you know what, I'll think about it' and I parked the idea'."

It wasn't until a couple of years later when Yvette had a creative awakening. She said, "I had a dream, it was really weird. I woke up in the middle of the night, scared my husband to death and went 'Archie the ghost hunter' and I just dreamt of this little boy with a pack back on and a lot of ghost busting equipment."

Yvette spoke about how much she enjoyed the creative process, "it took me about 18 months to two years to actually write it and get it done and finish. And then when I read it in a book form I was like 'I wrote that!'"

She added, "once I got into it, I wouldn't come out of my writing room. I think you've got to fall in love with the world that you've created." Archie's world is the fictional seaside town of Bottomley-On-Sea, which is based on one of Yvette's favourite spots, the coastal town of Polperro in Cornwall.

Although the book is based on some of Yvette's own terrifying paranormal experiences, she found writing for children came quite naturally. She told Lorraine that the kids she spoke to while she was writing the book told her that when it comes to ghost stories, "the more frightening the better."

Yvette also got personal with Lorraine, revealing how she's re-married her husband Karl every ten years, and even shared her secret methods she's used to overcome her struggle with menopause.
